History, Affiliations and Rankings The government approved the University of Warwick's establishment in 1961, and it got its Royal Charter of Incorporation in 1965. The vision for a university in Coventry was floated immediately after WWII ended, but it took courageous and inventive cooperation between the City and the County to bring the institution to existence on a 400-acre site shared by the two administrations. Since then, the University has expanded its land holdings by purchasing nearby agricultural property and incorporating the previous Coventry College of Education in 1978. In 1964, the University enrolled a modest number of graduate students, followed by 450 undergraduates in October 1965. Warwick is a world-class university in Warwick, the United Kingdom with excellent academic and research standards which is consistently being ranked among the world's top universities and also among the top universities in the United Kingdom.
