Caltech has been awarded regional accreditation from WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC). In 2020 remote accreditation took place. The WSCUC Commission met on February 19, 2021, and reaffirmed accreditation for 10 years. Till today, Caltech alumni and faculty have won 46 Nobel prizes. The notable alumni of California Institute of Technology are Nobel Laureate Carl David Anderson, who discovered the positron and the muon, Nobel Laureate Douglas D. Osheroff, and Nobel Laureate William Shockley, co-inventor of the solid-state transistor and Father of Silicon Valley.
History of California Institute Of Technology
The California Institute of Technology campus is located in the center of Pasadena at the foot of the prestigious San Gabriel Mountains. Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) at Caltech is the top research lab for robotic projects of the solar system in the United States. Its Seismological Laboratory situated on the school campus is the globally distinguished source for earthquake information. The University possesses the Kavli Nanoscience Institute for research purposes. Besides, the University has its own Center for Autonomous Systems and Technology, Bioengineering Center, Observatory, and many other on-campus research amenities. There are further than 50 student communities and sports organizations and 16 Division III varsity teams. The courses provided by the California Institute of Technology include 28 Bachelor's and 30 Master's degree programs. The College has six academic divisions. It also provides joint degree courses in partnership with UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, the USC Keck School of Medicine, and the Kaiser Permanente Bernard J. Tyson School of Medicine.
