About

RMIT is a global university that is highly focused on Design, Technology, and Enterprise. The university has 3 campuses and 2 sites in Australia, with an additional 2 campuses in Vietnam and a research and industry collaboration centre in Spain. Having said that, RMIT also offers a number of partnership programs through partners in Singapore, Hong Kong, mainland China, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India, Belgium, Germany, Austria and the Netherlands. Its Melbourne City campus is surrounded by public transportation, restaurants, cafés, theatres, galleries, and parks in the cosmopolitan core of the "world's most liveable city." The Bundoora campus, located in Melbourne's north-eastern suburbs, is placed in a serene parkland setting with outdoor sporting facilities. Finally, the Brunswick campus is located six kilometres north of the city in the creative and cosmopolitan Sydney Road region, which is home to markets, unique shops, bars, and a vibrant art and music scene. The university is renowned for offering more than 200 courses at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels in a plethora of fields of study like Architecture, Arts, Biomedical Sciences, Business, Design, Education, Engineering, Fashion, Game Design, Health Science, Information Technology, Law, Media, Science and Social Science.



History of RMIT University

RMIT University, officially referred to as the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, was founded in 1887 by Francis Ormond as a night school that offered classes in Art, Science and Technology in response to the industrial revolution in Australia. It was a private college for more than a century before merging with the Phillips Institute of Technology in 1992 to become the public university it is today. The university was established based on 6 core values i.e., Inclusion, Agility, Courage, Imagination, Passion, and Impact. The colleges that are affiliated with RMIT University include International House, Janet Clarke Hall, Newman College, Queen's College, St Mary's College, University College and Whitley College. Furthermore, the university is also affiliated with organisations like the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning, the Australian Technology Network of Universities and Open Universities Australia. RMIT is also backed and supported by stunning global rankings by QS World University Rankings 2022, THE World University Rankings 2022 and U.S. News Best Global Universities Rankings 2022 that rank RMIT #206, between #301-350 and #244, respectively.
