History of RMIT University

RMIT University, officially referred to as the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, was founded in 1887 by Francis Ormond as a night school that offered classes in Art, Science and Technology in response to the industrial revolution in Australia. It was a private college for more than a century before merging with the Phillips Institute of Technology in 1992 to become the public university it is today. The university was established based on 6 core values i.e., Inclusion, Agility, Courage, Imagination, Passion, and Impact.
