About

York University has three campuses - Keele Campus, Markham Campus and Glendon Campus. It also has 9 Colleges, namely - Bethune College, Calumet College, Founders College, Glendon College, McLaughlin College, New College, Stong College, Vanier College and Winters College. Every student is assigned to a college when they first enter York based on either their faculty and program of study or the residence they live in. Currently, York University caters to the academic demands of 55,700 students from across the globe and has around 7,000 staff members. There are around 28 research centres and 11 faculties at York University. These include - Faculty of Science, Schulich School of Business, Faculty of Education, Osgoode Hall Law School, Faculty of Health, Faculty of Environmental Studies, Lassonde School of Engineering, Faculty of Liberal Arts & Professional Studies, Glendon College, Faculty of Graduate Studies, and School of the Arts, Media, Performance and Design. There are 8 Library Branches across the University Campuses, 300+ student clubs and associations, and 70+ dining options across their campuses.



History of York University

York University was established in 1959 by the York University Act. It is the third-largest university in Canada. It was affiliated with the University of Toronto initially and then went on to become an independent university in 1965. Initially, the focus of the university was on liberal education in arts and science but gradually it paved way for three renowned faculties that include - engineering, education and medicine. York University has partnerships with industry, governments, non-profit and private sector companies, and other educational institutions. York is currently partnered with many universities from an array of countries, including but not limited to Australia, Brazil, Chile, Denmark, India and Venezuela, among many, many more. York University is affiliated with AUCC, CARL, IAU, U Sports, Ontario Network of Women in Engineering, CBIE and CFS, among others. According to the QS World University Rankings 2022, the university is ranked #494.
